Garage photos

Got out of a meeting on time and made it back home whilst the sun was still up so I kept going as I am so in love with getting photos. My new Nokia E72 has a 5mp camera and a 4gb memory and since it is my first mobile of this capability I having fun with it.

The panel above the doors is going to be painted to match the scheme. I'm kind of getting used to the wood look but not a fan of the tone as a permanent feature so I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

I know it isn't a picture of the house but it is evidence that the remote controlled door device was also installed.

The rubbish pile is also growing. Another house has been tiling because there are tiles that don't belong, heaps of leftover aluminium strips that are often seen in showers and other various items plus a whole heap of unused concrete.

Both the front and back door thresholds were tiled this morning I think because both of them had a note in place saying "KEEP OFF WET TILES GO AROUND".

Roller doors on!

Tonight's visit proved valuable as I saw that the garage doors have been installed. I chose to have the included roller doors in Dune to match the fascia and watertank. I chose these instead of the panel lift because when I drove around I saw a few of them and was happy that the newer models have a cleaner look. This also saves some space in the garage as they open by rolling in and not onto tracks in the space near the ceiling.

Not happy with Allworth customer service though as I queried about limiting tradies smoking indoors to which I was told that it is impossible to police and that as it isn't my home yet I can't make any demands about it. Also when I queried how much guttering there is, as I am planning to buy gutter-guard in the near future, I was questioned in a rather rude tone how was he (the construction manager) to know and that was the roofing contractors responsibility. I asked how was I to know this and when he replied "what do you mean?" I said since nobody has ever told me who the roofing contractor was how could I be expected to know. Rude pig of a man, and I apologise to all pigs out there who may find this comparison offensive.

Wall Tiles and Porch

Now that a friend's husband, who is an engineer, told me that builders have a 6 day working week and recommended to get inside to go out on Saturday's today was the second time and is still proving to be true.

Today the tiler was working on the wet area floors, which are the charcoal tiles in the bathroom, ensuite and laundry.

As I blogger on Thursday night the lip of the portico was done, but going out today the tiler had also finished it.

The ensuite photo show the feature tile, which is also in the shower of the main bathroom but the shower it tucked away and I couldn't get in to see it as the floor had been freshly laid. I'm happy that it is all coming together and the vanity and the floors pull out the colours in the glass feature strips.

Also as you can see the bath has been finished.

In the kitchen the splashback is finished too. It looks a little more alabaster in colour than I anticipated, but it works well with the benchtop.

Hopefully this means painting starts this week.

Wet area wall tiles are up

Tonight's stalking event identified that the wall tiles are up in the bathrooms, including the side of the bath, and the kitchen. Loving the ceiling high tiling from what I can see, the feature tile looks awesome and I think a bit darker than I anticipated but this is alright as it with balance the dark floors - I was beginning to worry the house would be very light and uninspired. The kitchen splashback also looks good though it isn't as albino coloured as I thought and picks up the light brown fleck in the benchtop. The splashback goes to the underside of the overhead cupboards s0 I think this looks quite effective. The rim around the front and sides of the portico also looks done. Photos to come this weekend.

In other stalking news I saw boxes of tiles piled up in the hallway so I am guessing they are for the floors and he portico.

Laundry tub still in its box, so I am wondering if the wall tiles in there are done now if this will mean it will be installed next.

My understanding is the painting will happen next from reading other blogs, but also from checking out a house under construction down the street. Their wall tiles were done last week and now their painting looks finished. Good news too is they started about 1 month earlier but now looks only 1 week ahead.

With 2 neighbours in the street already moved in, 1 house set-up for the driveway to be laid and likely to mean they will move in by the end of the month, it will probably mean five (of 16) residences being lived in by the end of October.

Kitchen N Bathroom photos!

Haha! Today I went to meet a landscaper for a quote and I found guys working there prepping the walls for painting and tiling that should start this week.

So after doing the rounds with the landscaper he went on his merry way and I went inside. I said "hi" to the tradies and started taking photos. So without further adieu:

Water tank and downpipes

I went for my late night visit last night and found nothing had happened in the house, so I was a bit grumpy for a moment. But then as I wandered around the outside I came across the water tank in position on its slab! Looking at it I also noticed the downpipes were all connected, so I'm happy that some worked was completed Thursday.

Photos to come as I asked my Mum who has an RDO today to go and see if workmen were on-site and get pictures of the kitchen.

Kitchen installed, next payment due

I was contacted yesterday and advised that the kitchen has been installed and the next payment is due. That is fast as the last authorisation has only just made it to the CBA.

Despite the fact I go out to see progress on Thursday night's I couldn't stop myself from going there after work, and boy I am so happy with my choices. It was a bit hard to see through the dirty windows in the dark, but with my trusty little torch's face on the window the light inside was bright enough to see. Not much of the benchtop was visible because they have left thick cardboard on it to protect it until completion but the edges look pretty nice.

Wandering around the outside I could also see into the bathrooms and the vanity and sinks are in and the laundry tub is sitting in a bedroom wardrobe.

I might go back tonight hoping to see a delivery of tiles! Fingers crossed!!!

Locked up - locked out

Sunday's visit brought a big surprise that the walls have finished being lined and the doors have gone up. This means also that (trumpet roll) the house is in lock-up. All windows are closed, the sliding door is locked, and the garage internal, laundry and front door have the keyed alike locks in place.

Garage internal door (not sure the manhole went in the smartest spot?):

Laundry door:

Looking in from outside into a spare bedroom at sliding doors on built-in-robe and the doorway from the hall.

The planned landscape quote didn't go ahead as the guy couldn't make it. Will reschedule for later.

Walls look done

Tonight's visit shows the walls and waterproofing look done and the cornices, doorframes, and doors have been delivered. Hoping this means they go up tomorrow as the days are flying past.

Contact with SS2 earlier in the week finally. Some flawed bricks will be changed, but the external power points which are way too high will be staying as is because I didn't stipulate a height in the electrical layout. FFS - nobody told me I had to, and every other time I have seen them in other people's house, they are usually only 5 courses up from the ground, not hip height. He said they are installed at the same height as inside the house - hope not, that's ridiculous.

Insulation and Gyprock starts

Today went for the usual weekend look-see and saw the insulation has been started and the gyprock looks like it has been delivered. This should be finished by the end of the week coming.

Also have an appointment with a landscaper next weekend. Was meant to be today but he forgot it was Father's Day. Happy Father's Day to all of them and to my Mum who was a single parent.

Allworth can go jump off a cliff!

Seriously sick of the attitude of this company. Have been trying to contact SS2 as he is apparently back from sick leave. Nope, not happening as the answering service isn't switched on and no one picks up during his office hours, which are a brief couple of hours leading up to 5pm. So call I Building Manager, rude, rude, rude. Because the front of the house and the laundry entrance will need stairs and the letterbox is going to be bricked in I ask can the left overs be moved behind the house into the alfresco so they don't get stolen. THEY AREN'T YOURS, THEY BELONG TO US is the reply. I should have hung up, but didn't. So he is going to find out, but as far as he knows the answer will be no.

I also ask when SS2 will be back on the job. He is apparently, so I inform BM of the ongoing problem in contacting him. He's going to ask him to get on to me.

If this rubbish keeps going on I'll be making complaints left, right and centre, rude excuse of a man to talk to a woman like that.
